30 Seconds To Mars is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California, performing post-grunge. Formed in 1998 by the brothers LetoShannon (born on March 9, 1970) and Jared (born on December 26, 1971), it started as a small family project. By that time Jared Leto had already been a famous Hollywood actor. But he didn’t use his name for promotion, refusing the places that wish to attract the audience attention.

When the brothers were thinking over the band’s name, they ran across one scientific article about progress, where they’ve found the title “30 Seconds To Mars”. Later Matt Wachter joined the project. But in 2007 he quitted the band. Before the band hired Tomo Miličević, it consisted of Kevin Drake (rhythm guitar) and Solon Bixler (guitar, backing vocals), who left the band because of busy tour schedules. Nowadays the members of the band are Jared, Shannon and Tomo. The first debut album “30 Seconds To Mars” introduced the band as a fresh many-sided movement in music. The release of “30 Seconds To Mars” brought about the question “In what style do they perform?” Their music contains elements of progressive rock, alternative and space rock. As Jared says, they perform “neo-Prague new-wave art rock». The essential feature of the band is symbolism and related to this mistery. The print of Phoenix, the motto "Provehito in altum", slogan "Find the Argus Apocraphex" and four glyphs, the meaning of which will never be known. The second album “A Beautiful Life”, the producer of which was Josh Abraham, saw the light on August 30, 2005. On August 31, 2006 30 Seconds To Mars was awarded in the nomination “MTV2 Award” for their video “The Kill” at “MTV Video Music Awards”. Having sold million copies, the album “A Beautiful Lie” went platinum. In the whole the band has recorded 40 songs, but the album included just 10. In support of the album 30 Seconds To Mars toured with My Chemical Romance, Chevelle, Taproot, Seether, Audioslave, The Used. In March 2006 they started for their first headline tour "Forever Night Never Day". This was a great breakthrough for a support band. In the early 2007 the band visited their European fans in Germany, England, France and Netherlands. In the end of February the band went on tour “Taste Of Chaos” with “The Used”. When nothing threatened, the news fell out of the blue. Matt was going to leave the band to make time for his family and wife. On March 1, Matt officially announced about his departure from the band at the concert in El Paso. Tim Kelleher became their tour bassist, replacing Matt. Jerad started the work on a new studio album “This Is War” on July 4, 2008. The release of the album was to launce on December 8, 2009. But on November 28, 2009, somehow it was leaked into the Internet and became accessible for everyone.
