An American singer, guitarist, composer Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen was born on September 23, 1949 in Freehold, New Jersey. In 1975 Bruce Springsteen, who has been achieving his goal for 10 years, at last gained general acceptance and was taken notice of the audience and the press. He was honored as the savior of rock’n’roll, the only artist who has united rock’n’roll magnificence of the 50s with the content-richness of the 60s and reviewed them in the style of the 70s. He performed furiously as Jerry Lee Lewis, his lyrics didn’t yield to the lyrics of Bob Dylan in complexity and his concerts turned into the religious act of service for music.
Within his forty-year career, Bruce Springsteen has become one of the greatest rock stars worldwide with perfect creative reputation. Among his achievements are 60 million records sold just at his native land, one of the most popular albums of all the time, full-house stadium shows, the Oscar and a lot of Grammy awards. His lyrics are often devoted to the difficulties of everyday life. At the age of 7, he decided to become a musician, having seen one of Elvis Presley’s performances and at 16, he has become a frontman of the band “The Castiles”. In the late 1960s, he started to play at New Jersey clubs as a member of the trio “Earth”. At that time he got a famous nickname “The Boss”, because he was responsible for getting money after the performances and handing them to the other members of the band. However Springsteen never liked this stage name. Bruce signed the first contract in 1972. Having invited his friends musicians, under the title “E Street Band” they recorded album “Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.” (1973). The sounding based on folk-rock, complicated lyrics gave the critics rise to compare Springsteen with Dylan. On getting appreciation from the specialists, the album failed in sale. So did the second record “The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle” (1973). CD “Born To Run” was the last opportunity for Springsteen to produce a successful album. 14 months of intense work were crowned with a great success. But then came a struggle with the former manager of the band Mike Appel, and the next album “Darkness On The Edge Of Town” was released five years later, differing from the previous works. The music appeared to be more subtle, the lyrics were devoted to social and politic problems. The following albums were “The River” (1980), devoted to the working class, and “Nebraska” (1982). The most successful Springsteen’s work was the album “Born In The U.S.A.” (1984) that sold over 15 million copies. The head song, a sad story about the attitude towards the Vietnam veterans, is considered one of the most urgent songs in America nowadays. The next album “Tunnel Of Love” (1987) turned to be more calm and less sharp. E Street Band disbanded in 1989. 3 years later, Bruce released two albums “Human Touch” and “Lucky Town”, the lyrics of which was devoted to the internal feelings of the musician. The song “Streets Of Philadelphia” that was a soundtrack for the film “Philadelphia” got Oscar in 1944. In 2000 Springsteen revived “E Street Band” to go on a small tour and record “The Rising” (2002). Then followed acoustic album “Devils & Dust” (2005) that included the songs written 10 years ago. The next album in the style of folk was “We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions” (2006). In 2007 the album “Magic” was released. At the same time Springsteen took an active part in Barak Obama’s election campaign. His 16th studio album “Working On A Dream” was released in the end of January, 2009. In 2010 Springsteen’s discography was replenished with “The Collection 1973-1984”that introduced one of the best Bruce’s songs. This collection was, without any doubt, an excellent present for the lovers of a legendary musician.
