Garbage
Garbage band was formed in 1994 in Madison, Wisconsin; the band consists of Scottish on vocals, Shirley Manson on vocals and guitar and Duke Erikson on guitar. Keyboards and percussion, Steve Marker on guitar and keyboards and Butch Vig on drums and percussion, the band was able to sell their albums of over 17 million units
The first debut self named album did very well on the media charts and made people attracted to buy over four million copies worldwide, Garbage earn the Breakthrough Artist award at the 1996 MTV Europe Music Awards.
Garbage second album 2.0 did very well and took almost 2 years to be completed, the success of the album made garbage nominated two Grammy Awards, Album of the Year and Best Rock Album.
History
Vig and Marker founded Smart Studios, In 1983, in Madison and albums from Spooner made Erikson, Marker and Vig inspired to form a band, Manson was invited to join the band but Manson described her first session as a disaster, the first songs of the album were "Stupid Girl", "Queer" and "Vow", and soon after the release of the album Garbage signed with Mushroom U.K worldwide and On December 21, Garbage signed to Jerry Moss's label Almo Sounds for North America
In august 1995 garbage released album named "Queer" and was proceeded by non album track "Subhuman" and "Rains”, in Australia the album debuted number 12 on U.K album chart ,the success of the album made garbage earn the nomination for Brit Awards for Best New Band and Best International Newcomer.
In 1996 garbage released single tracks "Only Happy When It Rains" and "Stupid Girl”, both these tracks did unexpected on the charts, "Only Happy When It Rains" was peaked at #55 on the Hot 100 and "Stupid Girl" peaked at number 4. The track was framed as one of U.K. Top 100 hit and made the album to reach an elevation of #6
Version 2.0
Garbage second album Version2.0was released on February 15, 1998. In March, tracks of the album did very well on the charts, the first track of the second album "Push It" became the #1 most added record at the U.K and also it became their third consecutive U.K. top ten hit at #9
Version 2.0 debuted at #1, In May 1998, in the UK and at #13 in the Billboard 200. On October 12 garbage was nominated for three MTV Europe Music Awards: "Best Group", "Best Rock Act" and "Best Video" for "Push It".
Beautiful Garbage
The third album of the band garbage was released on September 10 but due to the September 11 attacks in New York City and Washington D.C, the promotional schedule for the album was put on hold.Releasing three weeks after September 11 attacks made the album suffered from lack of promotion which lead to the failure of the album
