Kelly Brianne Clarkson is an American pop singer, songwriter and an occasional actress. She was born on April 24, 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas, and grew up in Burleson. She was the third and the youngest daughter of a primary school teacher and an engineer. When Kelly was 6, her parents divorced and she was left with her mother. To provide the family, Kelly’s mother had to work at numerous jobs in different places of the States, and Kelly had to move from one city to another. At last they settled in Burleson, where her mother married for the second time. When Kelly was in the 7th form, she determined her future profession –
she wanted to become a sea biologist. But in the 7th grade on of the teachers occasionally heard Kelly singing in a school corridor and offered her to try herself in a school choir. Though she had never learned singing before, she agreed. By the senior school Kelly had already had participation in many school musicals. Inspired with her success at school, Kelly decided to record her demo and send it to sound-recording labels. To finance her record, Kelly had been working at several jobs, but the labels to which she sent her demos didn’t sign to her. Having decided that Hollywood was the best place to break into, she moved there. But all she managed to gain there was just an extra in the film “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch”. At last, after 4 months of useless attempts, Kelly returned to Texas. On her returning to Burleson, she changed one job for another – she worked as a waitress and sold cinema tickets, she was an anchorwoman for a TV shop and a promoter of “Red Bull”. When TV show “American Idol” announced the opening of the audition, many of her friends began to induce her to take part. Kelly was auditioned together with tens of thousands other candidates, but she was singled out thanks to her vocal talent. Clarkson became one of the 30 finalists that got into the show. Each week she had to perform a song on TV, and the audience voted the performance they liked more. Thanks to the song “Respect” by Areta Franklin, Clarkson turned to be in the 10 of the competitors. At last Kelly reached the final and on September 4, 2002 she won the contest. The ballad “A Moment Like This” written for the winner of “American Idol” was included in Kelly’s debut album “Thankful” and sold 236 thousand copies in the first week. The album went twice platinum and Clarkson was nominated for Grammy in the category “Best Female Vocal” for the song “Miss Independent”. In December 2003 she participated in the contest “World Idol” held in London. It gathered the winners of the Idols from different countries. Kelly won the second place. In November 2004 Clarkson released her second record “Breakaway” different from the previous one. That time Kelly decided to change her image and began to perform harder, rock oriented music. The album went platinum for 5 times in the USA and Canada. Clarkson also won two Grammy Awards – one for the best female vocal for the song “Since U Been Gone” and the second for the best pop album. The album “My December” was released in 2007. Kelly revealed her strength and resolution. The special feature of the album was that Kelly was the author of all its compositions. In 2008 Kelly participated in the world tour “2 Worlds 2 Voices Tour” with Reba McEntire. Producer of Kelly’s fourth album was the frontman of “OneRepublic”, Ryan Tedder. The release of the album was on March 6, 2009. The first single of the album was the song “My Life Would Suck Without You”.
