Lady Antebellum is an American country band, one of the most original groups of this style. It was founded in 2006 in Nashville, Tennessee. It was Charles Kelley whose initiative was to form a band performing something between rock and country. The band consists of a vocalist Charles Kelley, a pianist and a singer Dave Haywood, and a singer Hillary Scott. Scott is a daughter of a famous country singer Linda Davis, Kelley’s brother, Josh, is also well known in the world of pop music. Family ties have played an important role in the launching of the band.
Charles used to perform with his brother before he went to Nashville in mid-2005. But, eventually, he got bored with being always in the shadow of his more successful brother. So he decided to attempted to start up a solo project. Soon Charles managed to gain the support of his classmate Haywood, and at last their third member, Hillary Scott, found their band with MySpace. The band was named so in honor of specific buildings of “pre-war” architecture. At first they performed at local clubs before they signed to Capitol Records in 2007 and set to working on a debut album. Shortly after that, a popular contemporary artist Jim Brickman invited Lady Antebellum to perform his single “Never Alone”. The musicians released their first solo single “Love Don't Live Here” in September, in December they shot a video for that song. Later that single became the main composition of the band’s debut album, released on April 15, 2008 under the guidance of Paul Worley and Victoria Shaw. Later the debut single reached number 3 on the hit parade of Billboard country songs. The album itself also gained much appreciation. The second single “Lookin' for a Good Time”, released in June 2008, managed to peak at # 11 on hit parades. Nearly at that time the musicians got a contract to perform at one of the concerts “'Waking Up Laughing Tour” of Martina McBride. On October 7, 2009 the musicians’ debut album went Platinum, having sold over one million copies worldwide. In 2009 Kelley and Haywood helped their label partner Luke Bryan with the recording of the single “Do I”, where Scott performed side vocal parts. On October 6, 2009 Bryan released his first album including “Do I”. In August 2009, the fourth single of Lady Antebellum, “Need You Now” saw the light, subsequently it became the title composition of their second album. The composition started with number 50 in hit parades, and then it managed to top the charts. The fifth single “American Honey” was released on January 11, 2010 and also headed hit parades. So was with the sixth one, “Our Kind of Lovely”, released on May 31, 2010. The album itself was released in the early 2010. By February it has topped Billboard hit parade and hit parades of country albums. In 4 weeks after the release it went platinum. On April 28, 2010 the band performed at the final concert of a popular TV reality show “American Idol”, singing “Need You Know”. On September 20 they went on their first solo tour in support of their new album. On October 28, 2010 the band performed the national anthem of the country before the ordinary world tournament of baseball. Lady Antebellum is at the peak of fame now. One of the causes of the band’s great acceptance and popularity is due to properly selected musical trend – their blend of styles resembles the creativity of “The Eagles”.
